Besides technical, I used the domain to test personal branding techniques. Free email addresses (yahoo, hotmail, gmail) were not cool and looked un-business. I was proud of my own email address in my Resume. I felt like my website was a fortress from where I can reach to conquer new lands.

After 6 years, many things have changed.

We now have lots of viral tools: Facebook, Twitter, LinkHay (Digg clone), Google+, instant messages.

Furthermore, it’s been more of personal touch and influential recommendation in the social media landscape. People share what they find and like to relevant people; receivers trust the sharers authority. Many in my current social graph care little of vanity URLs and own domains. They read interesting and relevant contents, as long as the content is from someone they know and trust.

On a personal note, I’ve grown fatigue with communicating with domain registrars and host (re)sellers. Managing different credit card accounts when moving through different cities and different jobs is also troublesome.

So I decide to move my blog to WordPress.com

I can now spend the time managing technical issues of a domain and a host on activities which I believe generate more values. In short, now I just want to focusing creating the content. Quick. The contents, if they’re good enough, viral themselves, regardless of the platform they depart from.

It feels great again to let go of an asset (the domain) I once treasured.

3. The result is that WordPress updates versions rapidly enough to keep bloggers fully awake and excited
4. Most importantly, when WordPress becomes the #1 blogging platform, ecosystems will follow
5. and see, now we have Facebook Connect, Google Friend Connect…
6. Eventually, the WordPress builders see though the values of WordPress-powered professional bloggers: attract readers with quality of publications. WordPress keep its bloggers concentrated on their writing task

This term is sheerly for the ease of remembering and discussion; the order of the letters serves no other purpose.
